Hydrogen peroxide (H_2O_2) is a chemical which have a wide variety of applications. The direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide from hydrogen and oxygen gases is a potential process which does not require complicated operations and large energy, and the commercialization of the process has been strongly desired. In this study, we have designed and fabricated a glass microchannel reactor for the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide. With the gas-liquid multiphase reaction in catalytic packed-bed narrow microchannels (width: 600 μm), we succeeded the direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide safely without the explosive reaction between hydrogen and oxygen even when the explosive gas content was used.
