The work-hardening characteristics of anisotropic tensile deformations and the corresponding residual strain changes of pre-strained ferrite single-phase steels with and without aging treatment were investigated by using the neutron diffraction. The plastic deformation along the pre-strained direction conducted aging treatment shows discontinuous yielding behavior. On the other hand, the plastic deformation perpendicular to the pre-strained direction after aging treatment shows continuous yielding. An anisotropy of mechanical property in IF steel is attributed to deformation direction and strain ageing. As a result, it was found from this investigation about micro structures that the FWHM of all the grains is increased by strain-aging.
