Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) is most attractive material, which is expected to reduce the weight of automobile or airplane. But it is difficult to process. To increase production volume and efficiency in the field of CFRP component, cutting process is requested to improve processing rate without the degradation of strength and quality level. In this study, the effect of several cutting process on the static tensile and fatigue strength was evaluated for CFRPs. The method of conventional laser cutting(CO_2 gas laser, single-mode-fiber-laser with continuous wave(CW)) produced heat-affected-zone (HAZ). However, advanced laser can process CFRP without degradation by improving cutting method such as increasing cutting speed, short pulse and short wavelength. The laser cutting specimens exhibited a linear dependency of the tensile or fatigue strength on the HAZ, indicating that the main effect resulted from thermal destruction stress loading does not occur in there of CFRP within HAZ.
