Abstract
In FA (factory automation) and other industrial fields in recent years, more attention has been paid to safety in addition to the improvement in productivity and efficiency of machineries. Our production facility Robot Control Cell has been subject to risk assessment based on international standards ISO 12100 and ISO 14121, and the results obtained from the assessment were reflected to the optimal arrangement of safety components such as interlock switch, light curtain, enabling switch, and emergency stop switch. The effect of safety components, which were arranged to provide the safety measures based on the risk assessment of the system, were evaluated by conducting a questionnaire survey to the system operators. The survey results show that the safety of the system has been improved significantly. In this paper, we report on the results while evaluating them from a variety of angles.
