A data collection unit is developed to increase the productivity of manufacturing facilities and the quality of products. The unit can be attached to an existing facility easily. It tracks each workpiece in the facility by using virtual workpiece which is modelled by state machine. It can attach ID of the workpiece to process data easily. Further, a modeling tools for setting up virtual workpieces and data collection flow is developed, to apply the data collection unit to various facilities in a short lead time.
