Abstract

In recent years, the increasing of aging infrastructures such as bridges and tunnels has been one of the most particular concerns in the world. For this reason, low-cost, low-power and wireless monitoring technologies are required. Acoustic Emission (AE) techniques have the potential to detect initial deterioration of structures. We have been developed an original AE sensor system integrating an event-driven, energy-harvesting and edge computing system. This paper presents the result of the long-term demonstration by AE sensor system on reinforced concrete slab.
