In this study, we investigated gear noise properties including the sound quality of the POM gears which are representative plastic gears and examined possibility of the noise reduction based on human's audibility. It becomes clear as follows; 1) Noise of a POM helical gear pair under no-lubrication condition is significantly influenced by contact stress. 2) In the relatively low load condition, loudness level expressing the volume of sound corresponding to human's audibility tends to increase depending on PV-values. 3) These results mean that the noise may be reduced effectively if we decrease PV-value by the appropriate change of design specifications.
