Amorphous alloys have some superior mechanical properties such as high strength, high toughness and corrosion resistance. They also have superior electromagnetic properties. Accordingly, it is supposed that they can be successfully applied to both machine structural and electromagnetic uses. In this study, fatigue properties of Fe_<78>B_<13>Si_9 amorphous ribbon are experimentally examined in cyclic tensile loading. Fundamental S-N characteristics are first examined and statistical fatigue properties such as fatigue life distribution are then clarified by performing statistical fatigue tests. Quantitative P-S-N characteristics are finally analyzed from the stress dependence of the fatigue life distributions. Fracture surfaces of the specimens failed at the respective stress levels were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM).
