In this paper, vibration control of the beam by ready-made beam, spring and damper is discussed. First, the equation of motion of beam with absorber was formulated. Then, by the optimization method, the optimum natural frequency and the optimum damping ratio were calculated. We investigated the method to reduce single mode and multiple modes. An experiment with a pedestrian bridge model was carried out. In the experiment, we compared the time responses of the bridge with absorbers and without absorbers. It was showed that absorbers could reduce the vibration of the bridge effectively.
