It is well known that a rotating stall in vaneless diffuser occurs at low flow rate. This report treats the rotating stall in a vaneless diffuser coupled with a impeller by using a commercial code with the standard κ-ε turbulence model. It was found that the rotating stall in the vaneless diffuser could be simulated, and the onset of the rotating stall in the impeller depends on the gradient of the impeller pressure performance curve. In case with a whirling impeller, whirling speed has influence on the number of stall cells in the diffuser
