In this study, in order to account for the thickness effects, experimental investigation and finite element analysis have been carried out. The work described in this paper was motivated by the experimental observations i. e. (i) the curvatures of the dynamically propagating crack front in double cantilever beam specimen increase with the plate thickness, (ii) the dynamically propagating crack fronts in thinner specimen are almost straight. Depending on the speciment thickness, we discuss the variation of fracture parameters along the dynamically propagating crack front in double cantilever beam (DCB) specimens of PMMA.
