Abstract
A suitable method for controlling the outputs of fuel cells and capacitors for lightweight electric vehicles was studied to achieve optimum power distribution in its driving modes (acceleration, deceleration, etc.). In order to control the outputs from those power sources, the authors proposed an original power control method named Time-Splitting Method (TSM). A fixed experimental system constructed as a model of a lightweight electric vehicle was used and the operating characteristics of the system using this control method were measured under various running conditions and the effectiveness of the method was confirmed.
