It is important to clarify the dynamic strength of the long bars which are common elements in the machine structures. In addition, studies on dynamic buckling phenomena are insufficient as compared with those in the quasi-static loading studies. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the mechanism of dynamic buckling phenomena and to evaluate their buckling loads. In this research, we study the dependence of the buckling load on loading velocity, and also clarify the effect of bar size on them in the loading velocity range from 0.001 to 1m/s.
