Abstract

On the basis of torque control method, a new tightening method of bolted joints is proposed, in which the tightening principle of elastic angle control method is incorporated. The latter method requires the stiffness of the whole bolted joint. In order to make the proposed method a practical one, therefore, it is necessary to accumulate the precise data on the stiffness of fastened plates with various configuration. In this study, as a typical configuration among various bolted joints, the stiffness of cylinder cover-shaped joints is systematically analyzed by three-dimensional FEM.
