Particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements of streamwise-spanwise (x-z) planes over isotropic and anisotropic porous media are carried out to understand the turbulence characteristics. We consider six kinds of porous walled channel consisting of isotropic and anisotropic porous media. Three isotropic porous media are foamed ceramics, and the others are handmade anisotropically layered meshes. By the two-point correlation analysis, it is confirmed there is a periodic turbulence structure over porous media induced by the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. It is found that its streamwise lengthscale normalize by the friction velocity on the porous wall has a linear relationship with the shear Reynolds number.
