Understanding turbulent flow physics near a porous layer is important for designing industrial devices. However, anisotropic effects of the permeability on turbulence near porous interfaces are still unknown. Thus, this study tries to perform 2DPIV measurements not only over but also under the interfaces of porous media constructed anisotropically with transparent acrylic square rods. In the region under the porous interface it is found that the streamwise permeability has far more significant influences on turbulence generation than the wall-normal permeability.
