Jet issuing through small holes into a freestream have proven effective in the control of boundary layer separation. Longitudinal (streamwise) vortices are produced by the interaction between the jet and freestream. This technique is known as the vortex generator jets method. In the case of a jet inclined to the wall from which the jet issues, the separation control work better. Although the mechanism for suppressing flow separation using vortex generator jets have been studied by many researchers, the details of near fields of an inclined jet are not cleared yet. In the present study flow visualization technique is applied to know the unsteady feature of near fields of the jet exit in addition to velocity measurements using X-type hot-wire probe. We found a new type of vortex and cleared the structure of vortex system. Those vortices seems to be tangled with some other vortices (e.g. wake and hairpin vortices). moreover, flow measurements using hot-wire probe clarified the mechanism of formation of longitudinal vortices in the near fields of jet.
