Isambard Kingdom Brunel (IKB, 1806-1859) is dated bicentenary birth anniversary on 9th April 2006. Many events to celebrate the anniversary are going to be held in Bristol, London, and other places in the U.K. The Brunel 200 is one of the main activities. Brunel University is also planning a lot of events. Here in Japan, the Research Committee of Brunel, JSME, organized the Brunel 200 Japan. Thus a series of events and publishes for celebration of Brunel's birth anniversary will be done in Japan. These events and activities are dedicated to Brunel's engineering spirits, which built up today's engineering. The Brunel Japan contributes to familiarize Brunel to the Japanese, and to decrease technological divide in today's engineering-based-society.
