Influence of the several mechanical bi-leaflet prosthetic valve designs on the three dimensional flow field inside the simulated aorta Dynamic PIV system has been applied to examine the aortic flow fields, which reflect the leaflet designs and overall designs of the bi-leaflet valves; the SJM, the On-X, and the MIRA valves. At 180° Orientation, every valve have strong central flow. The MIRA valve with its curved leaflets generate diversed flow at downstream reagion. The On-X valve generate even more strong central flow with its 90° opening angle flat leaflets. At 90° Orientation, although every valve generate peripheral flow, newer valves, the MIRA and the On-X valves, also generate strong flows at all orifices.
