Steam injector (SI) is a passive jet pump driven by direct contact condensation and a high performance heat exchanger. Furthermore, a SI can operate without an electrical power source by condensation of steam into water. From above characteristics, a SI is expected to apply to various industrial equipment. However, it is not cleared about thermal-hydraulic characteristics by direct contact condensation. The object of the present study is to reveal the influence of the mixing section length on heat-transfer characteristics of a SI. The test section of the SI was made by transparent material to observe flow structure in it, and the water jet was observed via a high-speed camera. At the same time, the temperature distributions along the radial direction were measured. From above results, a heat transfer coefficient of the SI is estimated and a relation between an interface behavior and heat-transfer characteristics is discussed.
