Abstract
Hepatocyte transplantation is expected to alternative or bridge treatment to liver transplantation, especially for infants with metabolic disorder. Effectiveness and safety of hepatocyte transplantation is important for clinical efficiency. Particularly, a size of hepatocyte cluster is critical for effectiveness of the treatment. In previous study, we cleared that cluster of hepatocyte have higher ammonia metabolic function than isolated hepatocyte. So it is a necessity that clusters of hepatocyte are selected from hepatocyte suspension for high quality hepatocyte transplantation. In this study, we developed the novel separation method using centrifugal force and Dean Vortices in liquid-liquid two phase flow for hepatocyte transplantation.
