Machine tool industry is one of the most important sectors because it supplies production systems to other industries for reliable, reasonable, stable production. However, engineers of machine tools are required to have academic and practical knowledge and experience. This report presents a collaborative educational program for young researchers between the machine tool industry and academia. The educational program was conducted by the planning committee of RC266 in JSME. The program consists of group survey and discussion on subject, preparation of presentation slides, and presentation to industrial and academic experts. Evaluation results through questionnaires confirmed that the participants were satisfied and the members of RC266 require continuing operation of the educational program.
