In the present study, finishing machining of hemispherical shape was demonstrated with a contour line path by a ball-end mill. The roundness of the machined workpiece and the motion accuracy of the machine tool are compared. We compared the machined surface-shape and the theoretical surface-shape. The primary factor influencing the finishing surface roughness is the geometric surface-shape, and the contribution of machining phenomena is only sight in contour line machining. When machining with this path for the surface roughness of micrometer order, it is necessary to consider the form error of the cutting edge of the tool.
