This paper aims to achieve high precision machining of difficult-to-machining materials with ultrasonically assisted internal grinding (UAIG) using metal bonded diamond wheels. During UAIG operations, the grinding wheel is ultrasonically vibrated along its own axis and rotated at low peripheral speed. Workpiece materials are tungsten and molybdenum. The obtained results showed that the internal surface roughness of tungsten material is less than 10 nmRa. In addition, grinding forces in UAIG are less than that in conventional grinding. From these results, UAIG using metal bonded diamond wheels is extremely effective for high precision machining of difficult-to-machining materials.
