Grinding machines that employ a high-speed reciprocating worktable or wheel head are known as high-speed reciprocation grinding. The high-speed reciprocation grinding is developed to achieve high-efficiency grinding. Currently, the demands for smooth surface are increasing. In this study, relationships between the roughness of high-speed reciprocation ground surface and grinding conditions are investigated. As a result, it is found that the surface ground by high-speed reciprocation grinding becomes rough when the grinding efficiency is low. Therefore, the grinding conditions need to be optimized in finish grinding process.
