In this paper, the authors describe the outline of the conic roller screw mechanism and equalization of the load distribution in the conic roller screw mechanism. The conic roller screw mechanism is a new mechanism that realizes both high efficiency and long lifetime. This mechanism realizes high efficiency by optimizing its contact part geometry to reduce the partial slip on the contact. In addition, this mechanism extends its lifetime by taking advantage of its line contact feature, which reduces the Herzian stress. Equalization of the load distribution is necessary to suppress the decline of the lifetime further. The authors therefore devise a new technique to calculate a contact force of each roller. The authors also derive a condition to equalize load distribution using this calculation technique.
