Abstract
A novel four-body finishing method for glass using polymer particles was described. The polymer particles were added to conventional cerium oxide slurry to improve polishing performance of glass. The polyurethane particles were found to be most effective of the tested polymer materials. The removal rate of glass when employing dimpled particle was 20 % higher of glass than that of conventional polishing. Furthermore, the polymer-cerium oxide composite abrasives were used as media particles. The removal rate was increased approximately 30 % by adding composite abrasives to slurry without deteriorating surface roughness.
