In Japan, active safety technologies to ensure the safety for pedestrians are strongly required for reducing the total number of traffic accident. In order to minimize the pedestrian to car accident, hazard anticipation driving mechanism is studied under the research project funded by JRTT. In the research project, main cause and accident induced mechanism of pedestrian to vehicle near-miss are investigated utilizing incident database collected by drive recorder equipped vehicle. Reconstruction simulation for near-miss incident plays important role in the analysis of pedestrians' unsafe act. In this paper, the brief introduction for the incident database and the use of reconstruction simulation are mentioned.
