Virtual reality in all its forms has always been a subject generating a lot of interests. With new applications every day, its potential is still to be discovered and the wide range of fields already covered by virtual reality is probably one reason for this passion. From art to military applications, VR is widely used in design, education, the medical field and many other fields for planning, R&D and many other purposes. After the release in 2000 of the first version of the virtual reality application UC-win/Road, Forum 8 participated in many projects where VR has been extensively used. These projects involved technologies like HILS (hardware in the loop simulation) but also required to have a global understanding of what should achieve VR and how to make it an interesting and evolving technology.
