The fully coupled dynamic effective stress FE analysis is proposed to calculate the response of the heap of Class A of dangerous goods, such as nickel ore and iron ore fines in cargo holds of a bulk carrier to the rolling of ship, in which the potential liquefaction of cargoes below the water surface was considered. The numerical analysis was carried out by using a modified version of the software UWLC. The force change due to the rolling of ship, calculated by D'Alembert's principle, includes two parts: (1) the force changes in the horizontal and vertical directions induced by the gravitational force following the inclination of ship, and (2) the inertia forces of the tangential acceleration and radial acceleration induced by the rolling of ship.
