When a Micro-Grid is disconnected from power system and operated under islanding condition, it is considered that there are rapid load fluctuations. In order to increase quantity of compensation for the power fluctuation with gas engines from the viewpoint of costs and service life of power sources, this paper presents a gas engine operation at variable equivalence ratio based on the engine load change. The engine control methods were constructed and the efficacy was evaluated by means of engine dynamic simulation. As a result, it was shown that the load following capability of engines is enhanced by variable equivalence ratio control.
