Facility layout planning is the most important issues in designing manufacturing systems, and numerous studies have been performed. One major approach is to define the total travel distance as an evaluation index and minimize the distance, in which manufacturing efficiency from the viewpoint of the time is not considered. The efficiency from this viewpoint is taken into consideration in production scheduling which is performed after completing the layout planning. However, this does not always generate the optimal facility layout and production schedule from the manufacturing efficiency, since the facility layout determined in the layout planning phase was not generated considering the efficiency from the viewpoint of the time. In this paper, the integrated method for planning layout and schedule is proposed.
