Abstract
The omni-directional mobile mechanism has a high level of mobility. We developed a prototype of omni-directional collision detection bumper using potentiometers for such mobile mechanism. However, the previous prototype had less durability because it used contact type sensors and link mechanism to convert from the displacement of the position and orientation of the bumper to the amount of rotation of the potentiometers. This paper proposes a new prototype of omnidirectional collision detection bumper using non-contact type sensors. The results of experiments are showed compared with the results of experiments of the previous prototype.
