Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) laparoscopic image with a feeling of natural depth and a wide range without a sense of incongruity is needed for laparoscopic surgery with a narrow operation field. We developed a tip-lateral Full HD CMOS image sensor 3D endoscope having a bending mechanism with 1 degree of freedom (DOF) and a variable convergence angle mechanism. This 3D endoscope is having one DOF and a variable convergence angle mechanism for laparoscopic surgery with a narrow operation field. This 3D endoscope provides an optimal 3D image view with a feeling of natural depth by variable convergence and one DOF. Using this device, we could provide a 3D image with a feeling of natural depth and a wide range without a sense of incongruity.
