On the today's construction sites, robot technologies are highly expected to work instead of a construction worker, or to assist him. A similar expectation was also for about twenty years ago. At that time, general contractors had put out a lot of prototype robots into the construction site in order to meet these requests. However, most robots disappeared with economic stagnation. Why is this? This paper focuses on that point, analyses the mismatch between on-site needs and developer's seeds, discuss key considerations on design and planning in development of the robot system for construction work.
