Abstract
Tightening strength of bolted joints cannot be determined by only tensile test of the bolt because a bolt receives not only tensile force but also torque during tightening process. We would like to introduce the tightening characteristics and fatigue characteristics of nonferrous bolts that we had investigated so far. A5056 aluminum alloy bolts, AZ31 magnesium alloy bolts and AZX912 magnesium alloy bolts were used in our experiments. The fatigue tests were conducted in not only room temperature but also 100 degree C atmosphere.
