A prototype vegetable production system has been developed and characterized for baby leaf lettuces and Brassica species. The system employed an offline setup technique firstly to optimize the growing conditions at various stages of vegetable growth and secondly to reduce manual work significantly. Seeds were pre-germinated before sowing. Vegetables were grown in trays throughout till harvest. A reduction of 12 days in the number of days to harvest was achieved for Mizuna and Komatsuna greens.
