A new concrete-structure testing method has been developed where hammer impact has been replaced with water jet impact. In this new method, objects are tapped by water drops at regular intervals. Pieces of tile peeled off utter a characteristic sound. The sound is collected by a super directive microphone. The existence of the pieces of tile peeled off is judged by the sound. In this study, 300 mm by 300 mm tiles were used. One tile was peeled off and the others were stuck perfectly. The tile peeled off was detected successfully from a distance of three meters. Defect detection was also performed while moving.
