Effect of oscillation of a plate in the flow and acoustic fields around a single flat plate and a cascade of flat plates are clarified by direct aeroacoustic simulations with volume penalization. This volume penalization method is one of useful methods to predict flow and acoustic fields around a complex geometry and moving object, where the penalization term is added in the original three-dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes equations in the region of objects. In the present simulation, the penalization term is changed when the wall of an object is moved with reference to a fixed computational grid. As a result, it is clarified that artificial waves can be suppressed for the flow around a single oscillating flat plate. When the centered plate is oscillated in the cascade of five flat plates, the frequency of the vortex shedding from adjacent plates is locked to the oscillation frequency. Moreover, acoustic resonance with anti-phase mode is synchronized with the oscillation frequency.
