In this research, we developed an impact-fretting corrosive wear test rig and studied about corrosive wear properties of type 304 austenitic stainless steel in Na2SO4 solution. This test rig can generate impact-fretting under various impact loads, fretting amplitudes and frequencies with employing two piezo actuators. It was also installed a potentio-stat, we can measure or control the electrochemical potential of specimen surface. Type 304 austenitic stainless steel, which is used as a corrosion resistant material in various environments, was used as specimens. To avoid the electrochemical effects on a wear surface, alumina balls were used as a counter material. A potential drop caused by impact-fretting was larger than previous fretting experiments, it was showed that chemical effect is significant on impact-fretting wear of type 304 stainless steel.
