In industrial applications, several kinds of additives are mixed in the base oil. It is considered that the interaction between additives dominate the oiliness property of the formulated lubricant. In order to elucidate the competitive adsorption phenomenon of two-component system of oiliness agents, the surface morphology and film properties of adsorption films were examined by using AFM, and the adsorption behavior was examined by using QCM-D. Stearic acid(SA) and oleic acid(OA) were used as an additive. The adsorption film was synthesized by the LB and Dip-coating method, in which the mica splittings were dipped in hexane in the additive. The results of AFM indicated that the adsorption films of LB film and Dip both consisted of three regions of SA region, OA region, and mixed region, which were structured hierarchically in nano-micro scale. The results of QCM-D indicated that the most of adsorption amount was OA solution, followed in order by the two-component system solution, SA solution.
