Imbalanced driving posture, altered by vehicle motion, causes difficulty on conducting driving task at adequate timing. This is notable with novice driver's inferior driving operability. The objective of this research is to evaluate vehicle steering interface to reduced driving posture alteration and dependence to driving skills. In this report, we measure driver's head motion and trunk motion caused by the rolling inertia moment under two steering interface's rotation axes. Steering operability is evaluated by the setting time and rise time of steering angle. The two steering types are 1) tilted axis wheel, which is standard issue for small and middle size automobile, and 2) lever steering with axis vertical to horizontal to ground. Results show that subject's upper extremity motion, head roll angle and angle between trunk long axis and axis vertical to Motion Base pedestal are larger with lever steering. Furthermore, the lever steering type's overshoot is 21 degrees smaller and setting time is 0.21 second smaller than tilted axis wheel steering.
