This paper presents a comparison between partial simulation with approximated blade number and full-annulus simulation of unsteady flows through multi-stage stator-rotor blade rows in a low-pressure steam turbine. Former one calculates 1/10 circle of the turbine, and differences of each blade numbers are within two. These calculations assumed dry-steam condition. The results show that full-annulus simulation enables us to capture circumferentially nonuniform flows which are not able to simulated by partial simulation. Differences of the stator and the rotor blade number influence on not only the periodicity but also the peak value of Mach number and static pressure distributions.
