In this study, we aimed to evaluate the running motion and the physical characteristics of human body under the various floor condition. Initially we measured the running motion under three types of floor condition, i.e. the rigid floor, one mat on the floor and two mats on the floor. From the measurement results, it was confirmed that the running motion did not change significantly due to the floor condition except the ankle motion. Next the inverse dynamics analysis was performed using the musculoskeletal model to estimate the muscle forces and so on. Based on the estimation results, as the floor became softer, the muscle tension of the ankle plantar flexor muscle group was exerted more greatly, but the moment of the ankle joint did not almost change. It was confirmed that both of the running motion and the muscle force will change to keep the moment of ankle joint constant.
