In the present study, we studied the influence of the container geometry and fluid properties on the generation of the air suction vortex. Specially, our attention was paid to the influence of the fluid viscoelastic property and shield plate in the container. As the viscoelastic fluids, we used the solution of Alcox E-100 (Meisei Chemical Works, Ltd.). It was found that there is the optimal position of the shield plate to generate the air suction vortex and the fluid viscoelastic property has an effect to enhance the generation of the air suction vortex.
