Machine Tools are also called “Mother Machine”, because they are used in manufacturing of all products around us. However, most people are not familiar with their existence and abilities since Machine Tools are mainly used in factories as a production facility. Therefore, The YAMAZAKI MAZAK MUSEUM OF MACHINE TOOLS specializing in Machine Tools which are unique in the world has been opened to raise their public awareness. In this museum, modern Machine Tools with a 200 year history and typical industrial products such as a steam locomotive, a car, an aircraft, are introduced in details how Machine Tools make people’s lives better. There is also a machining factory called “Smart Factory” which is featured by automated and present advanced Machine Tools. This paper introduces a history of modern Machine Tools and exhibition concept of our Museum of Machine Tools.
