The wear characteristic of a ferrite slider on perpendicular recording disk was analyzed. The wear-volume of the slider was measured by an Atomic Force Microscope, Followed results were obtained. The specific wear rate of the slider is proportional to the contact pressure. From the wear test with the lubricated disk, the lubricating effect against the slider wear is not obtained for the continuous sliding condition.
