A low fly-height load/unload slider was designed. The slider has three pads that raise positive air pressure and decide slider's fly-height. In this paper, it is proposed that another pad was set in the recess of slider. In order to get good load/unload characteristic, the pad in recess can be used to decrease the negative air pressure and to decide the position of negative force action point. In this design, the position of the pad in recess was optimized so that no negative pitch angle occurs in loading process.
