Abstract

This paper presents contact models of an ultrasonic motor using finite element method. The contact between a stator and a rotor, which is difficult to be performed at the experimental investigation, will be modeled using finite element solver called abaqus, which can solve contact problems by using finite element method. Since a pre-load given to a rotor plays an important role in this type of ultrasonic motor, contact models will be evaluated to examine either the change of friction forces or the displacement of the contact point due to the change of the pre-load given to the rotor. The results of this contact simulation will be shown and the validity of the models will be discussed.
