Abstract

The rotational speed of high performance gasoline engines is getting higher. The overlay of bearing is used at more higher temperature caused by high rotational speed. As the result, the overlay is given different damage from conventional type. It is the overlay peeling caused by melting intermetallic compound at Ni layer boundary. So, we developed the new overlay material that makes no low melting point intermetallic compound. The overlay consists with lead, tin, indium and copper. Copper suppresses diffusion of tin and indium in lead for no low melting point intermetallic compound.
